Although we love freebies, deals and coupons, sometimes savings aren’t enough. Sometimes, you just need some cold hard cash.
That’s why we put together five ways to earn money in your spare time!
1) Become a Mystery Shopper
Companies across the U.S. often rely on mystery shoppers to provide valuable feedback on how they operate. You can become a mystery shopper for the businesses you already visit! Simply apply online, accept open postings in your area and provide feedback about your visit. There are many great mystery shopping resources online, but we recommend checking out BestMark and Marketforce to get started!
2) Rent Out Extra Space
Do you have an extra room in your home that you’re using as a guest room or for storage? Turn that space into cash by renting it out on Airbnb! Hosting travelers can be a fun way to make some extra money if you live in an area that people like to visit. Simply stock your extra room with toiletries and linens, similar to a hotel room, and list it online!
3) Sell Your Clutter
If you’re short on cash, then you might want to take stock of the things at home that you don’t need anymore. Selling things online is easier than ever, with websites and apps like eBay, Craigslist and Letgo that share your second-hand goods with the world. Things like furniture, electronics, clothes, books and more could be sold to someone who needs it. Plus, you get the added benefit of decluttering your home!
4) Open a Savings Account
Having a savings account is a great way to make sure you have money for a rainy day or your next getaway, but did you know that banks across the country might offer you cash for opening a new account? Banks such as Chase, Citibank, TD Bank and more have run promotions like this in the past. Even if you already have a savings account, there’s no problem with having two!
5) Share Your Shopping Habits
Do you go shopping once a week, or even more? You can get rewarded by the National Consumer Panel for scanning what you buy when you get home! Companies are interested in knowing what you buy each week and will reward you for sharing that information. Although you don’t get cash, you can redeem points for gift cards, which are just as good!
